Off The Chain
If you look over to the right of this post and down just a bit, you’ll see the picture of the pretty pit bull on the button on my first sidebar.
I love Pit Bulls.
I know some people are afraid of pit bulls, probably because they believe the negative propaganda and horror stories about this noble breed. The fact is, Pit Bulls are not human aggressive. At least that’s not their natural tendency. Pits may be small animal aggressive because of the Terrier in them, but they love people and want only to please.
If you know or hear of a human aggressive pit bull, it was trained to be that way. Don’t believe me? Or maybe you do believe me but know someone who thinks the breed is bad. If so, or if you just care about animals, check out Off The Chain. This documentary shows the real aggressor: bad people. If anyone can watch this and not realize that the American Pit Bull Terrier is the victim I’d be surprised.
I challenge anyone who loves animals to send one of these DVDs to their local library with an invitation to their local government to watch it at the next council meeting. Before another locality passes breed-specific laws, become educated. Don’t execute or ban the victims. Arrest and incarcerate those who are truly evil: the people who abuse these loyal, loving dogs.

Mahalo nui loa for doing this. Pit bulls are the dog of choice in Hawaii. So many people have them for the wrong reasons. Since I live in a “rough” area, I see the worst of the worst. It breaks my heart to see these beautiful animals on short, heavy chains in so many yards. I’ve come across fighting arenas a couple of times, usually when inspetcing homes in repo after the owners’ drug convictions. The conditions would horrify you. Chicken fighting rings, too - don’t get me started.
I’ve also seen and been friends with quite a few pits that are beloved and well-behaved family pets. It’s the people who are the problem here.
Preach it, sweet friend!
In Indianapolis they are making a law against dogs on chains. I feel so sorry for them. Any breed of dog can be good if their owner cares for them and loves them. My two dogs are spoiled rotten!
