Pit bulls are the dog of choice in Hawaii. So many people have them for the wrong reasons. Since I live in a "rough" area, I see the worst of the worst. It breaks my heart to see these beautiful animals on short, heavy chains in so many yards. I've come across fighting arenas a couple of times, usually when inspetcing homes in repo after the owners' drug convictions. The conditions would horrify you. Chicken fighting rings, too - don't get me started. I've also seen and been friends with quite a few pits that are beloved and well-behaved family pets. It's the people who are the problem here.
