I Love Freebies!

I have no problem paying for things I want but I sure do love to get freebies. I never knew how many freebies were out there until I got online. The first freebies I discovered were the great free computer programs, aka freeware, at various sites. Some of my favorite software is free.

I’ve been visiting a site every day, anxious to download the latest daily giveaway. Giveaway Of The Day doesn’t offer freeware. Rather, each day the site offers one piece of software, normally costing $20 or more, for free. You have to download and install it during the 24 hour offer window but that’s the only requirement. Not bad, eh?

So far, I’ve downloaded file converters, screensavers, video and graphics programs, hard drive utilities and so much more. These are full feature programs that work forever - no time limit on the software.

What are you waiting for? Get on over to Giveaway Of The Day to check out the latest offering. And for an easy way to see the latest Freebie, stop by here every day to check the Giveaway of the Day widget in my sidebar, all the way over to the right and down a bit. :)

Do they bundle in any spyware or malware? Do you know how they manage to give away that stuff? Do they finance it with advertisements? I guess I’m a bit skeptical.

There’s no spyware or malware in any of the dozen or so programs I’ve downloaded.

According to their About Page, software publishers offer the title so that it generates discussion about the software. Even though the software is available for only 24 hours, the discussion about each program remains on the site.

It’s okay to be skeptical; I was when I first found the site over a month ago. I just posted about it now because I wanted to test it out first.

BTW, your Church of Integrity is interesting. :)

That’s interesting, I wonder how they’re paying for it! I’ll have to try it out and see if it works well and is spyware free.

I think it would be nice if they disclosed how they made their money.

You should try more open source stuff, no spyware, malware, locked down versions… very nice.

If you ever get chance try Ubuntu Linux, you get a free operating system and more free software than you can shake a stick at!!!

Lots of useful stuff, and, these days its very easy to install, very few hardware / driver issues, very nice, join the 1% of those that know ;-)

I do use that stuff! Been using IrfanView since version 2, maybe? Wow, it’s been a long time. I love freeware and open source.

I have Ubuntu but couldn’t get it to run on the machine I wanted it on so I had to install DSL (Damn Small Linux) instead. I play around with it now and then and like it so far.

If I get my new computer soon (still shopping for it) I’ll load Ubuntu on my current desktop, most likely. It ought to run on that one.

You could have a look at Xubuntu, it is designed to run on lower spec machines, its quite nice.

TBH I haven’t used many distro’s. I very briefly used Red Hat desktop and Suse. Mainly I use Debian on servers and Ubuntu on desktop / laptop. APT / Synaptic is what I love most about them, especially if you like freebies!!

My first experience with Linux was Red Hat where I used to work. I did load it on my old P133 but then wanted to try Ubuntu. When that didn’t work I went to DSL.

I’ll have to look into xubuntu. I have another old machine running 98 sitting unused at my mom’s house. I need to get that from her and load something else on it.

I agree with Court that thye should disclose at least the general idea of how they make money. Because it sounds almost to good to be true.

Thanks for those suggestions but that blogspot link doesn’t work. I got a 404 page from it. that’s too bad because I’m always looking for good freeware sites.

You’re right, Dave, they need to make the explanation a bit more prominent on the site. As I mentioned in the second comment here, they do explain that on their About Page.

I have had no problems with the software I’ve gotten there. So far, that is. I’ve downloaded and used about a dozen programs over the past month or so. I waited to give it a fair shot before blogging about it because I’d hate to recommend something that was harmful to anyone computer. I guess we’re all skeptical these days, huh?

I am glad to hear that you are getting things free. I have to say when I get free things and even more importantly free help, I truly appreciate it a lot. What is the best type of software you have gotten so far?

what type of games are they? I am all about getting stuff for free when you can because why pay for it when others don’t. Its kind of the American way I am finding out, its all about connections and hookups. now you have hooked me up so thanks
