Say No To BSL
BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. While there are a number of breeds of dog targeted by this legislation – and it’s all wrong – my primary concern is any law aimed at the American Pit Bull Terrier and other “bully” breeds.
Every so often I do a post about Pit Bulls, usually on my other blog. I figured it was time to do a post here, though. After all, I have that cute little icon to the right of of here with an adorable pit bull smiling at me.
If you would like to get involved in stopping BSL, please visit the up-to-date legislation page to see if your state is considering breed legislation. In fact, check your state and local municipality to find out if laws have already been passed. When you’re considering a move to a new area, you might want to also check with a local real estate agent to get the low-down on BSL as well.
If you don’t know much about Pit Bulls or other bully breeds, please check out the well documented information and especially the myth-busting urban legend section.
And remember, punish the deed, not the breed.

Breed specific legislation is a form of discriminaton! The breed is actually one of the most loyal and loving of all the breeds. Pits only have the misfortune of being selected by less than desirable owners with less than desirale intentions. We should not make the breed or those who love them suffer because a few individuals torment the dogs to the point of aggression. On the personal front the worst damage I have seen inflicted by a dog on a human was done by a Dalmation. So singling one breed out for punishment is just unfair!
Breed Specific Legislation is not a solution. It would only make the problem worse. If legislators really want to make a change, they should require owners of “Dangerous Dogs” to take out an insurance policy or mandatory Obedience classes. These would be steps in the right direction. Simply banning an entire breed of dog, is only going to hurt the people who have actually taken the time to train and care for their dogs.
Punish the deed, not the breed
I wasn’t aware this was happening. Interesting. I’ll go check it out.
This is the lowest form of thought against dogs . it is the breeder not the breed that needs banning people who breed dogs to fight are the ones who give the breeds a bad name if they banned all pits today , day after tomorrow the breeders would come up with another mean dog breed and be working to bring out all the dogs worst qualities .these people need to go to jail for very long stretches of time. enough time to think on what they have done!
