Kendyll’s Playthings

I think I’ve finally found a use for all the blank floppy disks I have in a box. Kendyll’s computer, which is old and just used for some simple baby games, has a floppy drive. Kendyll loves putting the disks in the drive so I’m going to give them to her!

Luckily, Kendyll’s computer isn’t too old – it does have a few USB ports so I’ve been able to intall her games from my flash drive. I can remember when some software came on several floppies! Of course, I still have a copy of DOS 5.something around here somewhere, too.

Apartment Progress

It’s been quite a while since I last posted about Nick and Brit’s progress on their apartment. That’s because it’s summer time which means long days while the weather is cooperating. It’s also been a dry summer so there haven’t beent that many rain-out days.

I walked out to the apartment yesterday and looked around. They’ve done a few little things like finishing the grout on the tile floor and the trim in Kendyll’s room. I noticed that Nick hung their ceiling fan and added a very nice light where the table will go. It looks a little like a Murray Feiss ceiling light I saw when we were renovating our house.

I offered to pay for the tile in the kitchen and bathroom but Nick doesn’t want “cheap stuff” in there. I don’t know what he has in mind but Brit thinks they’ll be in there by Christmas so he better get moving and take me up on the offer. Although, just between us, I wouldn’t mind at all if they stay right where they are for now. After all, I just finished Kendyll’s playroom!

Hot Car

I really need to update here more often. I have a huge list of sites to write about but I’ve been suffering from heat related headaches lately. Every time I have to drive somewhere, the heat gets to me. My Auto air conditioning is not running the way it ought to and with such high humidity, my head usually feels like it’s going to explode.

I guess it’s time to schedule another repair job. Or is it time to trade in the Malibu?

What Happened?

I have a number of sites I need to check out and explore so I can blog about them here. Unfortunately, I also have to clean up my office before I can blog.

I have no idea what went on in my office – or the entire house, for that matter – while I was out. For some reason, the living room blinds were on my desk and the couch cushions were stacked up by the windows.

No, I didn’t ask why. Yes, I’m curious. But I’m more afraid of the answer.

Online To Learn

I get phone calls at least once a week from a friend or family member wanting some type of information that they can’t seem to locate online. They call me because I always seem to find the information they want. I suppose this is a good thing.

I went through my search history recently and discovered that, along with the things that interest me, I’d also done searches for electric dirt bikes, a specific real estate broker, canvas awning, Bob Ross, Kohlrabi, US Savings Bonds and Superman 3. Now, you may see that as wasted time on my part since I really wasn’t interested in any of those things. I see it as an unexpected learning experience. Maybe I don’t need any of that information right now. But knowledge is never wasted.

Setting A Goal

I’ve been trying to keep up with posting here but I’m definitely getting behind. I have my notes and links ready to post but one things leads to another and I’ve let another day go by without blogging here. On the up side, my other blog is chugging along nicely. Now, what to do here.

I thought about conducting some market research to determine the ideal frequency to post here. Okay, the ideal frequency would be daily, I know. Short of that, I’m going to attempt to update this blog two to three times per week. That’s my goal. Let’s see how that goes. Stay tuned.

Do You Remember?

I don’t. I can barely remember what day it is most of the time. I’m not that old, I know, but it seems that the more things I’m supposed to remember the less likely I am to recall even the simplest things. Like today’s date.

You would think that any society that can create better and more powerful computers would find a way to tweak my mind to remember more. Why isn’t there IBM memory for my brain? Wouldn’t that be a great idea? And why has no one done it yet? Come on, baby boomers! Demand more memory!

Rearranging

Our Living Room and Family Room are connected in an “L” shape. In fact, if you add our Dining room, it’s a “U” shape. But it’s the Living Room and Family Room that concern me now. The shape is making it very hard to rearrange the furniture.

We’ve always kept our Living Room very simply with two love seats near the fireplace. But now with Kendyll’s toys filling up part of that area and flowing into the family room, things are getting tight. The family room is a problem anyway because it’s a long rectangle with one very long wall. I’ve always wanted to arrange the furniture for home theater seating with a flat TV on the long wall. I’m just not sure that’s going to work.

Anyone know of any sites with home decorating ideas?

Don’t Tell Spank

I did a little cleaning last week and found some old golf clubs that Jesse picked up at a yard sale. I don’t want Jesse to know but I gave them away. Shhh! Don’t tell him.

I still have Jesse’s good clubs that I bought him for his birthday one year. The ones I gave to his buddy were pretty old and not really usable since they’re left handed clubs and Jesse is right handed. I have no idea why he kept them. At least now someone will get some use of them.

Traveling Girl

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to attend PostieCon, a terrific blogger’s convention, this June. It really depends whether my husband will be in Hawaii or not. If I can make it, will my husband want to go with me? If so, I’ll need to look into an Orlando vacation rental rather than a simple hotel room. We could make this a week long vacation.

I think I’m beginning to like getting older. I think I like the idea of taking these trips. :)
