Location Location Location

I doubt I’ll ever be able to afford a home in Hawaii, and certainly not on my beloved Kauai. That’s why I’ve been researching property prices around the country. I really don’t want to deal with winter anymore. I hate snow and I’m getting too old to deal with it.

I was kind of surprised to find such reasonable prices on Las Vegas Real Estate. I expected the prices to be quite high, almost like Hawaii. Maybe that would be a good place for us. It has a terrific building industry which is perfect for Brian. And the weather is perfect for me.

I need to talk to Brian about this latest brainstorm.

Just A Gripe

If you’re life is full of your own complaints, you may want to just move on. Otherwise, enjoy.

I have two desks, on in my office and one in the kitchen. I keep several Pens in both places as well as in my purse, on my night stand next to my bed, on the stand next to my bedroom recliner, in the basket in the bathroom, and in the laundry room. You never know when you’ll be inspired and need to jot down a thought.

Yesterday, I had just one pen. I searched everywhere for my pens but found only the one in my purse. No one has seen my pens. No one uses them. They just sit there and suddenly, they all jump up and march out the door, tired of the boredom of waiting to be used.

I know, it’s a fascinating situation. I’m just putting it out there in case someone who studies such inexplicable phenomena would like to look into this.

In the meantime, I’m keeping a close eye on my last remaining pen.

Planting A Seed

I was ready for the internet long before I touched my first computer in the early 80s. By then I was a mother and didn’t have much time (or money) to learn about this amazing box called a Commodore 64. I just set it up and used it. And the rest is history.

But the early days laid the foundation. The first nudge to my curiosity came from my cousin’s first husband. I was around 11 years old and was spending the weekend with them. I sat down to watch TV and my cousin mentioned, quite casually, that her husband had built the TV.

WHAT?

My 11 year old mind could not comprehend this. A TV is not something you build, it’s something you buy. Was my cousin married to a genius?

Over the years my thinking became more sophisticated. I babysat for a family that had an almost grandfather clock in the dining room; the husband had been working on building it for about a year. I dated a guy who loved electronics and he allowed me to help him build little projects from the kits at Radio Shack.

All of this laid a nice foundation for my love of computers and especially my passion for all things hardware. It’s been an interesing journey and I think I’ll be taking a next step soon. And of course, I’ll be blogging it when the time comes. :)

So, Here We Go

I’ve been blogging since 2000. This is the first time, though, that I’ve hosted my own blog. My original is at LiveJournal. I’m hoping this gives me a bit more control over the entire thing, from content to presentation.

Over the years – and by that I mean the past decade – I’ve accumulated quite a few bookmarks for some very interesting sites. I discover new and fascinating sites every day. I’m hoping to share those discoveries here, with commentary, of course.

I’m hoping that anyone who wanders by here will enjoy these treasures and maybe even a little of the trash. ;)
