Just A Reminder

If you’ve been reading here a while, or if you’re reading here via RSS, you may not be paying much attention to my sidebar. That would be too bad. There are goodies in my toolbar!

If you look over to the far right and down a bit, you’ll see the GiveAway of the Day widget. Every day there is a new piece of software being given away. That’s right, it’s free. Sometimes the software is worth $10 or so and other times, like just this past week, it’s worth more than $100.

Of course, there’s a catch. The catch is that the software is available for only 24 hours. You have to download and install in during that 24 hour period. But it’s worth checking it out each day. This is like the world series of Online GiveAways. Seriously, these are great programs and all you have to do is get them before the 24 hours expires. How great is that?

So come on over and check out the newest title in my sidebar. You just never know what you’ll find.

More Than Just For Architects

You may wonder why you’d want to visit a site that has free structural software. If you’re not planning to become an architect, then what’s the use?

Well, besides the structural software, you’ll also find a number of free CAD programs. Doesn’t everyone need a really good CAD program? I also found nice graphing freeware for my son here as well as several freeware office programs including a nice dictionary and thesaurus. Some titles are well known, like IrfanView. Others, I hadn’t seen before, like GraphTablet which lets you print graph paper quickly.

Each software title has a nice description, a star rating and a link to the homepage. Check it out.

What To Do On A Cold, Blustery Day

It’s one of those days here and I have a houseful. Five of my 6 kids, two significant others, three best friends, and a granddaughter. That’s 11 people who are getting bored.

The solution? Download Lego Digital Designer and play at the Lego Factory website.

I’ve put the LDD on all our computers including those that run Windows98. That’s the great thing about the software, it runs on older computers, too. And it’s free!

You’ll also find friendly, kid-safe message boards at the Lego site as well as a great Help section for getting started with LDD. In fact, just go to the site map and check out all the great stuff at Lego.com. Just be sure to download the LDD software on your computer, too. The kids won’t want to share.
